In Observance of the Pre-winter Jicker
Been sick for what feels like about two and a half years. I think I'm almost better. I can smell the coffee stains on my teeth.
Not that I have an addictive personality but this Thanksgiving I was grateful that Nyquil isn't available in bulk size bottles. When you finish a bottle of Nyquil, you have to go cold turkey until you go out and score yourself another bottle. You're forced to consider whether or not the Nyquil is working for you during the particular illness your suffering from and/or whether or not Vick's has sat a blue-green (or is it greenblue) monkey on your shivering-from-the-inside-back. On your withdrawal night, are you having trouble sleeping because you skipped the jones or is it because of the anxiety over whether or not you have a jones.
I can picture myself nursing a milk carton size bottle of Nyquil during my most dark and congested hours, were it to be available. Someone remind me not to look for it next time I go to Costco.
P.S. It felt fitting that my first post was weather-referential: November in Portland - Cold - Wet - get a cold. Rake fallen leaves - stir up allergies. Since my intention is to fascinate the world beyond with details of my life, it made sense to put a discussion of the weather at the top of the pile.
P.P.S. Did I need to explain so much in the above P.S.? Are you still reading?
